MRS EAVES

The Laguna Beach studio has papermaking equipment and a small letterpress studio.  Mrs Eaves, a Vandercook-4 proofing press lives here. Mrs Eaves is named after the typeface designed by Zuzana Licko in 1996.

JENSON

Mrs. Eaves’ twin Vandercook-4 Jenson, lives happily at the Irvine Fine Arts Center along with several cases of type and other equipment. The press is named after Nicolas Jenson. Jenson has printed dozens of student projects.

Side note: I took a wonderful letterpress class from Claire Bolton of the Alembic Press in Marcham, near Oxford. Her cat is named Jenson and I always wanted to name a child, pet or press accordingly.

ROB ROY

The Rob Roy is named after Rob Roy Kelly since I mostly print wood type and woodblocks with students on this press. The press was not meant to be mobile, but I haul it anyway to a few places with much back-breaking effort.
